Yesterday Hubby and I went out after I spent the whole morning marking exam scripts, and I returned home really pleased at the end of the day cos I managed to find two very nice items for myself to use!
Gift #1: Kate Spade Organiser
The organiser costs $150. Didn't expect myself to be spending so much on an organiser but gee, I suppose it's ok cos I think I'd be using this for a long long time. Plus, compared to other organisers from branded boutiques, this one's a steal cos the others might at least 3-4 times more than this. :p Also, I can just buy refill pages at Kino or Popular bookstores, so that's not a problem at all. The Kate Spade organiser refill pack costs about $90, but I'll just settle for the normal ones. :)
I've actually been meaning to get a new organiser for future use, but haven't had the time or opportunity to do so. All this while, I've been using cute schedule books I get each year from Kinokuniya but I guess with age comes maturity, so a now more 'mature' me has decided to get myself a long-term organiser minus the cartoonish look that allows me to just refill pages after every year of use. Was looking at Kino again yesterday, but didn't find anything I really liked cos all looked quite dull and way too serious.
Then, I chanced upon this one at Kate Spade after Hubby and I went down to Raffles City later in the evening. Instantly fell in love with it! There are two other combinations of colours -- orange and pink, which is a bit too bright for my liking, and pink and black (but I didn't quite fancy the hot pink), so I picked this one that looks more earthy. Sort of soothing to look at, but minus the dull single colour seriousness. Love the canvas material too. It's the same kind of material that Kate Spade canvas bags are made of.
Really looking forward to using it! Have decided to keep it till next year, so I start the new year with this new organiser. :)
Gift #2: Emporio Armani Shades
This pair costs $280, but it was on promotion and there was a 20% discount. Plus, I was offered a further 5% discount if I wanted this instead of a new pair that'd have to be ordered in cos there's a tiny scratch on one of the lens. But I don't mind saving $10 for that scratch cos it's barely noticeable and knowing how I use things, it'll probably end up with a scratch sooner or later. :p Anyway, I ended up getting it for $210. ;)
Didn't think I'd end up buying a pair of shades yesterday. The last pair I had was when I was like 18-20, I think, and it was a cheap pair that I got from a pasar malam stall. Haha. Since then, I've not been using any shades cos usually wear specs. But the last two weekends, I wore contact lens out so had the chance yesterday to try on shades. The shades would also come in handy when I'm out there in broad daylight and don't really wanna have students recognise me so easily cos sometimes, I dress very differently from what I wear to work (what with my latest experiments with black leggings, smoky eye make up, and yesterday, these two PLUS the Singapore Grand Prix cap that Hubby got us. :p).
It was so tough for me to find shades that I liked, and that suited my face frame and that was reasonably priced. Actually my budget was a mere $100, but I liked this one so much plus it was what both Hubby and I agreed was a near-perfect one after I tried on tons of other shades at different places that I thought "Aiya! Just buy la!". :p Think the discount also helped a lot... haha.
By the way, this was found at Spectacles Hut at Raffles City basement. Love the great service! The lady was so honest to tell me there was a scratch when she was cleaning it for me and even offered me that extra discount. Hohoho. Am definitely gonna support that place when I can.
^_^
PS. I think I'd better not be spending for a long long time after yesterday. :p
