Dogs and BBQ!

Went over to Manjit's place at Jalan Uji last Friday evening, just behind The Rail Mall. Haven't been to that area in a long long time... used to hang out in the vicinity at Hillview with Elmo and some others back in secondary school. It still looks pretty much the same, just that there are nicer stores along that stretch and the Hillview HDB blocks are sort of gone... that area's made way for more condos.

Anyway, Manjit organised that BBQ as a farewell gathering for Alicia, who would be returning to the States soon with her husband. Such a pity that she has to go. She's really been wonderful to have around at work. But at least I'm sure she enjoyed the BBQ. It was indeed pretty fun! Went Cold Storage to buy some snacks, drinks and ice cream to add to the BBQ spread with Sophia and Adra before walking over to Manjit's place. Once we reached there, we were greeted by 2 big dogs -- Bo and Tiger! Hehe... of course you can imagine how delighted I was to have 2 such large furry animals to play with! ;D

There's Bo, the handsome golden retriever, and who's forever full of energy until he collapses on the ground wanting someone to rub him all over. Hehe, Manjit said I was spoiling him cos I rubbed him until he didn't wanna get up and even hung one of his legs over on my left arm as my right one was rubbing him. What a 'diva'. Haha. :D

And here's Tiger, the other big dog. Tiger's also friendly, but in a less hyper way than Bo. He just quietly hangs around you and indulges in whatever little hugs and strokes you wanna give him. Despite his fierce exterior, he's really just a sweet angel within. :)

Then there's the food. Enjoyed myself as I prepared veggies and fruit salad with Sophia and Adra at a cosy bench table outside the house. Haha... we girls just made a lot of noise and talked a lot of nonsense as we got the salads ready. And the dogs just kept loitering around us... guess they knew who got the food! Also made friends with Manjit's 13 year old godson who stays with her cos his parents are working overseas. He's such a joy to have around! So clever and friendly, and guess what? He absolutely loves school! There's a nice kid you wanna have around you. ;) Plus we shared the same delight in the dips we had for the evening -- just couldn't stop gushing about what food to match the dips with to everyone else. Haha. Even hung around watching him play some online games and show off his skills to me. Hehe.

Check out the nice spread for the evening. :) Couldn't eat much of the BBQed stuff cos was recovering from a sore throat but had lots of the salads I helped prepare. Adra and I took care of the longans for the fruit salad. We must have 'de'-shelled' and 'de-seeded' like a hundred of them. :p Oh and the dips that Manjit went out to buy last minute from Cold Storage! Yummy! Must look out for them next time. Goes with just about everything. :)

Left the gathering before 10am cos wanted to hitch a ride plus Hubby was already at home and so didn't wanna stay out too late. Anyway, had to get enough rest for next morning cos going for my usual checkup once again at Dr. Yap's. :)
